Dodge Equipment Examples by Category

A Dodge build sheet lists equipment by sales code, and those entries fall into familiar categories. The tables below give common examples for each one, with notes on what matters for Dodge models. What actually appears for a vehicle depends on its VIN, model year, and the record available; you can check yours with the build sheet lookup.

Engines & drivetrain

The engine entry is one of the most useful lines on a Dodge listing, because the same model was often sold with several engines. A Charger, Challenger, or Durango could leave the factory with a V6 or one of several HEMI V8s, and the badge on the car is not proof of which one. Drivetrain entries show rear- or all-wheel drive where both were offered. Some examples below, such as the EcoDiesel and the low-range transfer case, apply mainly to Jeep and Ram models that share the same coding system.

CategoryCommon examples
Engines3.6L Pentastar V6 · 5.7L HEMI V8 · 6.4L HEMI V8 · 3.0L EcoDiesel · 3.0L Hurricane I6 · supercharged 6.2L HEMI
DrivetrainRear-wheel drive · 4x4 / AWD · electronic locking differentials · low-range transfer case

Off-road & trailering

On a Dodge, this category matters most for the Durango, which was offered with factory towing equipment. A listing can show whether a tow package or hitch was installed at the plant, but that is not a tow rating; the rating depends on the full configuration and the published specifications for the model year. See Dodge towing package by VIN for how to read those entries. Trailhawk and Rubicon are Jeep trims, shown here because off-road equipment uses the same coding across Stellantis brands.

CategoryCommon examples

TraileringTrailer Tow Group · factory hitch · integrated trailer-brake controller · class IV / V receiver

Interior, technology & performance

Interior lines record seat material and color, comfort groups, and Uconnect and audio equipment, which helps when a used vehicle's features don't match its trim name. Performance lines matter most on the Charger and Challenger, where R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT configurations differ in engine, brakes, and suspension. In every category, the build sheet records what was installed at the factory, not what is on the vehicle today.

PerformanceR/T · Scat Pack · SRT · Brembo brakes · performance suspension

The entries above are illustrative. Which items were offered, and the sales codes used for them, differ by model, model year, and market. The record for a specific VIN shows what was recorded for that vehicle. For more on the codes themselves, read Dodge sales codes explained.
