DRG — Identifies the factory-installed rear axle ratio group. Browse Sales Code codes →

Oct 23, 2025 · Illinois

Planning a rear gear swap on my 2018 Charger Scat Pack and I want to be certain what ratio the factory installed before I order parts, because the internet gives me three different answers for this car. I know I could jack it up and count driveshaft turns like my grandfather did, but it is January in Illinois and my garage is unheated. Can I find the exact factory axle ratio on the build sheet, and if so, what does that line usually look like? Anyone know where it sits on the document?

Yes, the axle group has its own line in the chassis section, usually with the ratio spelled out in the abbreviation. Pull your record, find the axle entry, and you have your answer without freezing on the garage floor.

Build sheet line is the born-with ratio, remember. If any previous owner regeared, paper will not reflect it. On a three-year-old one-owner car you are almost certainly fine, but a peek at the diff cover for fresh sealant never hurts.

When you find the code, write it inside your service log. Future you, or a future buyer, will be glad it is recorded somewhere warmer than the axle tag.
