What is a Dodge build sheet?

A build sheet is the factory's own record of how one specific vehicle was assembled. For a Dodge it lists every sales code — engine, transmission, axle, paint, packages, and options — tied to the VIN.

It's the most reliable way to confirm how a used Charger, Challenger, or Durango was originally configured — far more dependable than a badge or a listing.

What the build sheet shows

Powertrain, trim, exterior and interior colors, wheels, option packages, and dealer-installed-at-factory equipment — the details that explain why two cars with the same model name can feel completely different.

On performance models it separates the genuine hardware — Scat Pack, SRT, Hellcat equipment — from appearance packages that only look the part.

Sales codes explained

Stellantis / FCA vehicles use 3-character factory sales codes on the build sheet. One package code can bundle several smaller features, so reading the sheet carefully tells you what the car actually carries.

Factory data is the baseline, not proof of current condition — wheels, audio, and trim may have changed since delivery, so use the sheet alongside photos and an inspection.

Trivia-night question that turned personal: a friend claimed his Charger and my 2018 were built in different countries, which sounded wrong since I thought all modern Chargers came from one plant. Rather than argue, I want to check. Does the VIN show the Dodge assembly plant, and which character carries it? And while we are at it, does the window sticker or build record state the plant more explicitly, in case the single character is ambiguous to read? Settle this so someone buys someone a beer.

Position eleven is the plant character, and yes, the window sticker states the final assembly point in plain text, no decoding required. For your generation of Charger the answer will be the same plant for both cars, so start deciding what beer you like.

Fun wrinkle: the first character tells the country of manufacture too, so between position one and position eleven the birthplace story is fully in the VIN. Your friend may be thinking of other Mopar models that did split production.

Checked both cars at lunch: same plant character, same country, and my sticker says it outright. Beer has been claimed and consumed. The VIN giveth.
