How can I verify the factory towing package on a Durango?

Helping my brother-in-law buy a 2020 Durango and the ad claims it has the factory tow package. It has a hitch, sure, but a hitch from the parts store does not equal the factory group with the cooling and wiring that actually matter when you are pulling a camper through Utah in July. He does not want to discover the difference on a grade outside Moab. How do you all verify a factory towing package on these through the VIN or the records, rather than trusting a receiver and a sticker?

Pull the factory equipment listing for the VIN and look for the trailer tow group line. The factory package shows as its own entry, and you will typically see companion lines for the wiring and cooling pieces. Aftermarket hitches leave no trace on that record, which is exactly what makes it trustworthy.

Physical tells to cross-check: the full-size spare arrangement, the seven-pin connector mounted cleanly in the bumper cutout, and the hitch tucked behind the fascia rather than clamped under it. Factory install looks born there, because it was.

Record pulled and the tow group line is right there, wiring entry too. Told him to buy it. Another Durango saved from an aftermarket mystery hitch.
