What is a Dodge build sheet?

A build sheet is the factory's own record of how one specific vehicle was assembled. For a Dodge it lists every sales code — engine, transmission, axle, paint, packages, and options — tied to the VIN.

It's the most reliable way to confirm how a used Charger, Challenger, or Durango was originally configured — far more dependable than a badge or a listing.

What the build sheet shows

Powertrain, trim, exterior and interior colors, wheels, option packages, and dealer-installed-at-factory equipment — the details that explain why two cars with the same model name can feel completely different.

On performance models it separates the genuine hardware — Scat Pack, SRT, Hellcat equipment — from appearance packages that only look the part.

Sales codes explained

Stellantis / FCA vehicles use 3-character factory sales codes on the build sheet. One package code can bundle several smaller features, so reading the sheet carefully tells you what the car actually carries.

Factory data is the baseline, not proof of current condition — wheels, audio, and trim may have changed since delivery, so use the sheet alongside photos and an inspection.

Continuing my Durango documentation saga: the original window sticker for my 2017 is long gone, lost by whichever previous owner also lost the second key. I have seen people here frame their stickers and honestly I want that for the garage, plus it would help when I eventually sell. Can a missing Dodge window sticker actually be recovered for a truck this age, or am I limited to the plainer equipment listing? What worked for you all, and how close is a recovered copy to the original?

For a 2017 you have a real shot at the actual sticker document by VIN, monroney layout and all, since records from that era were kept digitally. If the sticker itself will not surface, the equipment listing plus a reproduction gets you visually identical wall material.

Mine was recovered as a clean PDF and the framed print looks factory fresh. Do it before you sell too, buyers respond to that sticker like it is a birth certificate, because it basically is.

Recovered mine for the 2020 last year, and the tow group line item sitting there with its price was oddly satisfying. Worth the ten minutes even if you never frame it.
