What is a Dodge build sheet?

A build sheet is the factory's own record of how one specific vehicle was assembled. For a Dodge it lists every sales code — engine, transmission, axle, paint, packages, and options — tied to the VIN.

It's the most reliable way to confirm how a used Charger, Challenger, or Durango was originally configured — far more dependable than a badge or a listing.

The hunt is finally real: found a 2016 Charger Hellcat within budget, one owner, alleged clean history. Before wiring a deposit I want to run every check that paper allows. What should my VIN-based checklist look like for a used Hellcat? I am thinking decode for identity, equipment listing against the physical car, title and history run, but I suspect the Hellcat crowd has learned some model-specific lessons the hard way. What would you verify that a normal used-car buyer would not think of?

Your list is the right spine. Hellcat-specific additions: confirm both key fobs are present and the red one works, verify the equipment listing shows the supercharged engine group and matching brake and cooling lines, and have a tech scan for stored codes and check hours-of-operation data. Paper identity first, then the health story.

Ask for service records with VIN printed on them, not just receipts. On cars like this people swap paper between vehicles more than you would think. Every document should sing the same seventeen characters.

Cold start on arrival, not warmed up in the driveway. That is not a VIN check, but it has killed more bad deals than any decoder ever will.
