Wrenching confession: I am buying a 2016 Charger for a flip and the seller is asking a premium partly because of factory Brembo brakes. Calipers are red and say all the right words, but I have painted enough calipers in my career to trust none of them. Swapped-on brakes are fine, but I will not pay factory-option money for them. Equipment listing for the VIN, full stop. The performance brake group shows as its own line item, and a swap leaves that record untouched. Match the listing against the hardware, and check that rotor sizes and caliper piston count agree with the package rather than just the paint.

Painted calipers with sticker lettering are the classic tell up close, since factory lettering is cast-in quality. But paper first, hardware second, wallet third. Order matters.

Record pulled tonight: no brake group line anywhere on the listing. Confronted with actual paper, the seller suddenly remembered the previous owner added them last year. Offer adjusted accordingly and accepted. Paper wins again.
