Looking at a 2018 Challenger about an hour from me that the seller swears is a real Scat Pack. Bee badges, 392 callouts, the works. Problem is badges cost forty dollars online and I have seen SXTs dressed up as everything under the sun. I have the VIN from the listing photos. Before I drive out there with cash, can the VIN alone tell me whether this car actually left the factory as a Scat Pack, or do I need more than that?

Yes, the VIN settles it. Characters in positions six and seven pin down the trim level on these, and the eighth is the engine. Decode it and the readout will say what the factory built. Badges lie, the VIN does not, and cross-check the equipment listing while you are at it.

Also peek at the door jamb sticker in person and make sure it matches the dash VIN. If someone reshelled or swapped panels, mismatched labels give it away fast.
